Accelerando Metronomo, an accelerating metronome for the practicing musician, helps musicians with speed-building practice in a relatively hands-free manner. You specify two tempos, and the metronome will gradually accelerate from one tempo to the other (max 600 bpm). This minimizes the need to interrupt finger exercises, and, also very important, it provides a smooth, thorough tempo experience (instead of skipping a few bpm each time a button is pressed, as a typical metronome would require). Other nice features make the app extremely useful, such as "Wave Mode", Tap Tempo, user-selectable sounds, and choice of rhythms. Tempo range is from 20 bpm to 600 bpm. Accelerando Metronomo can also produce steady tempo like a traditional metronome.

I didnt really know I needed this but its actually a very useful app. Great for practising. Simple but full featured. Soon Ill be shredding like Malmsteen!
I realize a lot of people like to rush when they play, and this app could vindicate them ;) but it is an incredibly useful practice tool. Start out on the A side with a very comfortable tempo and put the "real" tempo on the B side. As you drill passages, you can stop the progress from A to B at any time by a quick tap to the "pause" button. At that point, the metronome stays on the present tempo. When you feel you can go faster, hit "pause" again and it will continue its journey towards the faster tempo. You can take all day to get there or you can do it fairly quickly via the "slope" slider, which tells you how long it will take to reach full tempo. There are about a dozen different sounds available for the clicks. This app saves you the distraction of having to manually change the tempo on your metronome all the time- you can know that after, say, 20 minutes, youll be at full tempo (where it will stay until you tell it to do otherwise.) This app doesnt help for mixed meters (get "Musicians Metronome" for that!) but it is a good tool for practicing, along with the Peterson tuner app, Jam Player, and Musicians Metronome. Accelerando is very reasonably priced and is extremely useful- highly recommended for serious musicians/students. Update- The developer recently added a fine-tune adjustment which eliminated my one gripe with the app. You can now set it for "start at 87 and end up at 113" etc. Bravo! Now easily worth 5 stars.
Excellent app. Great for practicing scales and licks.
Simple, effective and much needed. Surprised there arent more apps like this out there. But if youre using it for drum rudiments, a mode where the tempo can return to the starting tempo (A-B-A) without restarting the metronome would make it perfect.
